An online lottery that would raise precious funds for cultural activity is being planned for Middlesbrough. The draws would support a sector hit hard by Covid-19, with venues forced to close and activities cancelled for several months. Tickets for the Middlesbrough Community Lottery would cost £1 with a top prize of £25,000 up for grabs.
A book of condolence has been opened to remember all those in Middlesbrough who have lost their lives to Covid-19. The book of condolence will be online only and will ask Middlesbrough residents to help remind everyone that behind the statistics are people's friends and family members whose "memories should be shared and their stories told".
A major team effort is under way across Middlesbrough as the town starts to emerge from the Coronavirus pandemic lockdown. This weekend will see some bars and other premises begin to reopen after lying dormant for more than three months.
