A report on the Council’s Medium-Term Financial Plan, and Budget Savings Proposals 2020/21 was presented to a meeting of full Council on Monday 23 December. This proposed options to address a budget gap of £14.2m (made up of a combination of inflation of £3.4m and demand pressures of £10.8m, mainly due to Adults and Children’s Social Care demand) which is essentially the difference between the money we need to spend and the money we currently have for 2020/21.
A public consultation on the 2020/21 budget proposals opened on 24 December 2019 and closed at midnight 31 January 2020. Thank you to everyone that took the time to get involved and share their thoughts.
The responses will now be reviewed and analysed, the results of which will be taken into account in the final budget report, to be considered by elected members at the Executive meeting on 18 February 2020 and full Council on 26 February 2020. Full Council approval is required in order for the budget for 2020/21 to be adopted.
