We've launched a new system so you can book an appointment to take your bulky waste to the Household Waste Recycling Centre (HWRC) at Haverton Hill.
How to book
The booking system is easy to use. Go to the HWRC online booking website, and click the 'BOOK NOW' button. You'll see a calendar of appointments. There are only 10 slots available for each half hour booking - if all 10 have already been booked, you'll need to choose a different time.
To make a booking, you'll need to tell us your:
- email address (so we can send you confirmation and reminder emails)
- phone number
- postcode (you'll need to bring proof of your postcode when you visit the HWRC)
- Vehicle registration number
If you don't give all the required information, your booking will be cancelled.
It is one booking per resident. If you make multiple bookings, they will be cancelled. Please be respectful of other residents who will also want to book appointments.
Once you've booked your slot, you'll get a confirmation email. It'll also include a link you can use to cancel your booking if you need to.
The email will come from Reservio (firstname.lastname@example.org), and the subject will be 'HWRC appointment'.
We'll send you a reminder email the day before your appointment.
Social distancing of at least 2 metres will be strictly enforced at all times while you're at the HWRC. We have a zero tolerance policy against people who are not social distancing - you will be asked to leave the site.
We have a zero tolerance policy against people who are abusive to HWRC staff - you will be asked to leave the site.
Your booking will be for a half hour slot - e.g. 8am to 8:30am. Please be on time for the start of the slot (e.g. 8am) and make sure you leave by the end of the slot (e.g. 8:30am).
Only cars are allowed at the HWRC. Vans, commercial vehicles, or any trailers aren't allowed.
Only one person is allowed per car. Please make sure that you're able to unload and move your waste items alone. You won't be able to bring anyone with you, and HWRC staff will not be able to help you.
Blue Badge holders may be accompanied by one family member.
About bulky waste
Bulky waste is household waste or rubbish that can't go into your wheelie bin.
Examples of bulky waste are:
- kitchen items - e.g. fridge, freezer, cooker, microwave
- electrical items - e.g. TV, computer, washing machine
- furniture - e.g. sofa, bed
Businesses must request a one-off collection, not a bulky waste collection. There is a cost for this service.
When your waste is collected
For collections booked before 24 March 2020.
For both bulky waste and premium bulky waste collections, we'll give you a collection date, and advice about how to present your items for collection. For safety reasons, if you're getting glass collected, it must be taped, bubble-wrapped, or smashed up and placed in a box which is securely taped up.
We'll collect items from an easily accessible point, closest to the outside of your property. Our teams can't enter your home to remove, or help to remove, items. Please make sure the items are placed at the collection point before 7am on the day of collection.
Please note, we have to make separate collections for electrical and non-electrical items due to environmental legislation.
